The Role

  •  Draws up the Marketing Plan annually together with Director of Sales & Marketing of the hotel
  • Ensures that the plan is adhered to and monitors its progress
  • To update the plan if necessary (quarterly)
  • Oversees the administration of his/her team
  • Internal communications (hotels/sales)
  • Filing system
  • Office flow system
  • Inventory control
  • Personnel control in his/her department
  • Comprising monthly “M. I. S. Report”, Sales & Marketing Highlight Summary of all segmentation, Sales Activities, Competitor Analysis, and Market Share Analysis
  • Assists the Director of Sales & Marketing to conduct annual appraisal of the team
  • To assist his/her team and ensure effectiveness
  • Daily correspondence with clients
  • Daily follow ups
  • Sales reports
  • Record of sales statistics (sales objectives)
  • Promotion package
  • Competitors updated
  • Market analyze of the new business
  • To encourage existing accounts to be our productive account
  • Keeps himself/herself well informed about products (lodging, catering and other facilities)
  • Sets, in conjunction with the Director of Sales & Marketing, the current rates of the hotel
  • Closely observes matters pertaining to competition (site, prices, services offered on a regular basis, quarterly or more often as needed)
  • Implements policies and procedures as directed by the Director of Sales & Marketing
  • Forecasts future travel patterns and provided trade feedback to the management
  • Monitors and supervises his/her team’s production and activities
  • Identifies business potential and up keeps close contact with former and potential clients through personal visits, phone calls and correspondence in view of entering into contracts with them, especially with corporate accounts
  • Accomplishes goals and to adhere to quota as set out in the marketing plan
  • Ensures that the sales team meet clients’ requirement and that the client service offered corresponds effectively to their requests. In the event of complaints made by clients, should the need arise, to avail him/herself as mediator between the hotel and clients & guests
  • Ensures the availability of after-sales services and, in particular, concerns him/herself with clients who have registered complaints
  • Draws up together with the sales team, sales promotions and packages
  • Enters negotiations on behalf of the company as and when required to do so taking care not to exceed the limit of his/her authority
  • Establishes regular contact with major associations and government departments which specialize in corporate business
  • Confirms verbal proposals in writing
  • Maintains regular contacts with his/her clients and report any adverse comments to the management for rectification
  • Be aware at all times of hotel’s special program/promotions and advertising schedule of it in order to deal knowledgeably with clients
  • Maximises market share within his/her area/territory
  • Entertains supporting and prospective clients when necessary to maintain or develop a long-lasting and growing relationship
  • Organises and attend trade shows when requested
  • Be co-operative towards all colleagues of all departments at all times
  • Provide training to all subordinates as required to ensure that all staffs are skilled and productive

  • Conducts functions such as interviewing, hiring, employee orientation, performance appraisal, coaching, counseling and suspension of necessary to ensure appropriate staffing and productivity
  • Evaluates each member of his/her staff at least once a year and make flash evaluations twice a year
  • Concerning himself/herself with the welcoming and orientation of new employees
  • Is responsible for the cleanliness and general aspect of his/her personnel, with regards to uniforms
  • Ensures a good atmosphere and efficient co-operation in his/her department
  • Convene meetings with his personnel at regular intervals for information purposes
  • Ensures that internal training-courses be organized in his/her services: training-programs, training sessions
  • Ensures that the said training provide his/her coworkers with improved skilled and that it remains in accordance with the service, the hotel norms
  • Develop and foster good rapport with the public, clients and members of the trade to ensure and promote a good image of the hotel
  • Ensure all sales advertising and public relations efforts provide optimum profit returns
  • Maintains contacts with professional people, the press, media, government officials, corporate companies and with any persons who are clients or potential clients as well as Sales and Reservation offices
  • The Assistant Director of Sales reports directly to the Director of Sales & Marketing and works closely with all Sales Managers
  • Maintains good contact with departments of the hotels and may have contact with sales staff at the regional level
 
The Person
  • Must have prior ADOS experience in a Singapore hotel with a large inventory
  • Strong in the corporate market segment with a good hold on leisure and MICE segments
  • Able to work and oversee a large team
  • Works well under pressure and have a past track record of producing results and meeting targets
  • An effective communicator across all levels
  • Proactive and self-motivated, able to resolve and provide solutions to challenges
  • A strong team player and mentor
