The Company

Our client is a well established market leader in the deluxe hospitality arena with a strong foundation in MICE.


The Role

This is a Shared Service position and supports two hotels.  The SSM MICE will analyse market trends and competitor activity to recommend strategies that keep the hotel a leader in the MICE marketplace through the development of future and repeat business. Specifically, the candidate is required to have a proven track record in MICE and will be eager to make his/her mark on driving revenue to the hotels and Convention Centre.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Sales, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

The role will

  • be required to take a proactive approach to sales, anticipating potential opportunities and developing new ones
  • Develop strategic plans for Conference agents and MICE bookers and other key accounts
  • Responsible for sourcing, developing and account managing the MICE business from designated market segments within geographical areas 
  • Conduct an appropriate number of proactive sales activities (including telesales, appointments, site inspections, trade shows, fam trips and client entertainment)
  • Work with the in house Conference & Events team to maximize revenue opportunities through the sale of conference facility space and guest rooms
  • Review sales and other revenue generating business plans, identify gaps, ensure proactive measures to fill hotel and conference space capacity, and meet set targets
  • Understand the competitive marketplace and implement approaches to ensure the hotel stays competitive in the local market
  • A creative individual with a passion for sales, the Senior Sales Manager MICE will have responsibility along with the Senior Director of Sales for implementing the MICE strategy, setting, achieving and exceeding financial targets, developing and implementing marketing strategies which promote the hotel event space to key markets, taking bookings, developing key relationships and ensuring events are managed effectively
  • Build professional and personal rapport with all potential planners throughout the industry
  • Work with GSO to gain maximum production from key accounts and markets
  • Attend Sales events, as required


The Person

·Minimum of 4 years MICE Sales experience required

·University/College degree in a related discipline preferred
·Flexibility to respond to a range of different work situations
·Dependable and meticulous
·Ability to work under pressure and under own initiative
·Positive attitude and good communication skills
