The Company

The Role

To manage sales activities in line with the annual sales and marketing plan and to achieve/exceed budget in executing the sales strategy of the Hotel.

· Respond completely and quickly to customers' inquiries: telephone call - return all messages within one hour; written communication (letter, email etc.) - reply within the same business day.

· Practises professional account qualification on a consistent basis (i.e., determine customer objective, measure budget needs, date flexibility, space requirement, competitive information.).

· Practise basic telephone etiquette that consistently makes customer feel welcome, i.e., answer every telephone call within 3 rings, no call screenings and minimise transferring; always include a greeting, location and name when answering the phone, to speak with warmth and personality to all callers.

·Achieve daily targeted number of sales calls with effectiveness.

·Develop business leads for the property on a weekly basis.

·Prepare monthly Hit List of accounts to penetrate for the following month.

·Plan a minimum of 5 site inspections/entertainment meetings per week to qualified potential accounts or new accounts.

· Organise familiarisation / educational trips / site inspections to property by major clients.

· Maintain a high level of exposure for the property in major market areas through direct sales solicitation, telephone contact and written communications.

· Ensure that appropriate efforts are expended on the solicitation and development of:

-active accounts
-new accounts
-dormant accounts
-lost business

·Prepare monthly action plan for key market segment(s).

·On a monthly basis, review account profile/based on room nights production and average rate.

·Monitor Competitors Rate Strategy, Account penetration and Marketing activities to maintain a competitive edge.

·Fully responsible of accounts under his/her management, including contracting, updating profile and renewing contracts.

·Update management on VIP arrivals and meet and greet accordingly.

·Establish and maintain files on major active accounts within his/her market areas.

·Ensure an accurate and updated account profile is maintained in Suite 8 for all accounts, both live and dead with assigned sales/market territories.

·Arrange familiarisation /sites inspections to the property by clients.

·Disseminate sales related information to other departments as appropriate.

·Attend all pre or post event meetings, as required in relation to events booked in the properties public areas and prepare a post event report.

· Participate in the sales meeting by updating business pick-up generated for the week.

· Accomplish and meet targeted Room and Event Revenue as outlined in the properties annual business plan/budget.

· Maximise and achieve all sales productivity by following a system of weekly and monthly action plans which are reviewed by the Director of Sales & Marketing

· Create excellent guest and client relationships through attention to detail, follow through with a personalised touch and empathy for customer perceptions and needs.

·Disseminate sales related information to other departments as appropriate.

· Emphasise teamwork in all decision-making; always look for volunteer opportunities that aid a team associate. Achievement of overall properties goals supersedes individual concerns.

· Follow property performance and short-term forecasts to find weak periods and identify customers who need those periods.

· Actively assist accounts receivable in the follow-up of overdue accounts (or other departments who request our assistance in serving a sales client).

· Support overall property goals through participation in sales meetings, associate outings, recreational activities
and in settling an outstanding personal example for other property associates to follow.

· Support the development of the annual Business Plan, Budget and Marketing Plan as requested by the Director of Sales & Marketing.

· Attend tradeshows, travel functions, major business functions or as required/directed by the Director of Sales &
Marketing.

· Co-ordinate functions and activities of sales personnel. Interact with potential clients and industry trade representatives. Conduct their own sales calls and make calls with other Sales Managers.

· Interact with sales personnel of competitive hotels.

·Interact with individuals outside the property including, but not limited to corporate clients, diplomatic missions, government tourist office, competitors and other members of the local community.

· Attend major promotional events to promote sales for the property.

· Establish and maintain Suite 8 profiles on major hotel accounts he/she has established for the property and maintain Suite 8 profiles according to the Suite 8 sales procedures manual. Ensure other Sales Managers also follow approved policies/procedures in this area.

· Ensure complete awareness by all sales staff of competitors’ activities at all times.

· Review sales files as they relate to good booking procedures:

-proper contractual agreements
-adherence to all designated deposit, cut-off and payment policies

· Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established policies to achieve the overall objectives of the position.

· Establish and maintain effective employee relations.

· Maintain the highest standard of professionalism, ethics, and attitude towards all hotel guests, clients, staff, and employers.

· Maintain professional business confidentiality and perform related duties and special projects as assigned.



The Person

  • You must come with experience in the Orchard Road area
  • Min 1-2 years as a SSM or at least 4 years as a SM
  • You must ideally have existing accounts in the American or European and Middle East Commercial arena
  • Independent and self driven with prior results to prove
  • A good communicator and team leader / player
  • A proactive hunter - works well under pressure and short time lines.
